A step-by-step guide to enabling geolocation in your Shopify store.

A step-by-step guide to enabling geolocation in your Shopify store.

What is geolocation?

Geo Location allows seller to control their customer's "Add To Cart" and "Checkout" behaviour as per customer's location and the configuration done by seller in "Amazon MCF by Webbee" app.

In this article, you'll learn how to enable the Geo Location feature in the AMCF Shopify app by following the steps below.

Step 1:

Open the AMCF Shopify app and click on the configuration page.

Step 2:

Go to the Geolocation Settings section. This option is available only to users who have purchased the Geolocation add-on. After purchasing the add-on, click Reauthorize to activate the feature.

Note: If you enable the WebBee Geo Inventory toggle before completing the reauthorization process, an error message will be displayed. Make sure to reauthorize the app before enabling the feature.

Note: After enabling the Geolocation toggle, configure the inventory behavior by selecting a value from the Quantity for Non-Amazon Connected Locations / International Locations drop-down.

For example, if you select Zero Inventory, customers visiting your Shopify store from regions outside your connected Amazon marketplaces will see all products as Out of Stock. Customers visiting from your connected Amazon marketplace regions will still be able to purchase products, provided inventory is available for their marketplace.

Step 3:

After reauthorization is complete, enable the Geolocation toggle to activate the feature.

Step 4:

In your Shopify admin, navigate to Sales Channels → Online Store, then click Edit theme to open the theme editor.

Step 5:

In the theme editor, click App embeds at the top of the left-hand sidebar. Locate the WebBee Geo Inventory app embed and turn on the toggle to enable it.

Once enabled, the Geolocation feature will begin controlling inventory visibility on your Shopify storefront based on your customers' location..

How Does Geolocation Work in Shopify for locations which are connected in marketplace?

For example, if a seller has two Amazon marketplaces connected to their Shopify account, our app will display the available inventory on the Shopify storefront based on the visitor's region. Customers visiting from those connected marketplace regions will see the available inventory for those location. At the same time, if the seller has set "Quantity for Non-Amazon Connected Locations / International Locations" to Zero Inventory, customers visiting from regions outside the connected marketplaces will see all products as Out of Stock.

Important Limitation

The Geolocation feature can only limit the inventory displayed on your Shopify storefront—it cannot increase the inventory available in Shopify.

For example, if a product variant has 0 inventory in the Shopify US location, but the corresponding Amazon MCF US inventory is 10, customers in the US will still see the product as Out of Stock and will not be able to place an order.

This is because the Geolocation feature can only reduce or cap the inventory shown in Shopify based on location. It cannot add inventory beyond what is available in Shopify, and Shopify does not allow customers to purchase quantities greater than the inventory available at the assigned location.
