Error: [Code=EXCEEDED_MAX_FIELD_LENGTH] The field _____ contained more than the maximum number (__) of characters allowed

The reason why this or similar orders got rejected by NetSuite

It seems that in this Shopify order this "_____" field contains more characters than the allowance of NetSuite, as a result, our app couldn't sync it to NetSuite.

Example:

[Code=EXCEEDED_MAX_FIELD_LENGTH] The field lastname contained more than the maximum number (32) of characters allowed.

In the above example, this "lastname" field of this Shopify order contains more than 32 characters (including spaces) as a result, this order got rejected by NetSuite.

How to fix this error:

Step 1:

  1. Open Shopify, search this order in the Global search bar and open it
  2. Now, edit this order, so that this "lastname" field can be reduced to 32 or lesser characters
  3. Save the changes

Step 3:

  1. Go to the Order Log page
  2. In the Order ID field, enter the Order ID of this rejected order, and hit the Search button
  3. In the action tab, click on the Re-submit button
  4. Upon, successful re-submission, you will see the status of this order changed to Accepted by NetSuite
